The rack bolts into the studs and the straps adjust to the width of the boat, so a narrow touring kayak and a wide fishing kayak both sit snug. On the water side of the house it works under a deck, under a dock or on a boat house wall.
The two-rack sets pair this strapped arm with a second style: a padded arm in one set, an angled arm in the other. Take the set when two boats of different shapes share one wall.
You will work overhead or at the top of a stud wall, so set the ladder on a level floor, face it and keep a hand on it while you drive the screws. Fasten the brackets into solid framing (a joist, a rafter or a stud), never into drywall alone, and read the instructions in the box first.
