Where should it live?
Most garages have three spare surfaces: the ceiling above the car, the stud wall beside it and a corner of the floor. Each one suits different gear. Every piece in the RAD Sportz collection is sorted by the space it takes.
Ceiling planner
Will a RAD Sportz hoist fit your garage?
Enter your ceiling height and what you want to hang. The planner checks the load against each hoist and works out how much headroom is left under the boat or the bike. It covers the five ceiling pieces in the RAD Sportz lineup.
- Measure from the floor to the underside of the joists, not to the drywall seam.
- Weigh the load with its straps and anything left inside a hatch.
- Find two joists for the brackets before you buy: the hoist screws into wood, not drywall.

How RAD Sportz grew from one bike lift

One pulley lift for a bike came first. Then the hoist learned to carry a kayak, the wall took hooks and towers, and the gear followed the boat to the water.
- 2008The RAD bike lift: pulley hoist, rubber-coated hooks, rope lock.
- BikesFloor stands, a floor-to-ceiling pole rack and a flip-up wall hook join the lift.
- KayaksA 125 lb kayak hoist with a rope brake, then wall hooks, hangers and towers.
- WaterA folding cart, folding anchors, kayak covers and launch stands.
- HomeA walking pad, a stair stepper, a trainer desk and a suede yoga mat.

What RAD Sportz owners say after the install
Real reviews of our hoists, racks and carts from buyers on Walmart.com. Three of them name a problem, with the fix they used.
Quick and Easy
My husband, and I put it together in the garage it took maybe 30 minutes. . We were able to put the kayaks up and out of the way, which is really nice. My daughter is going to use the second set to put hers up as well. Very sturdy. very easy to install we were actually able to put two kayaks on one. We can take them both down at the same time or just one.
Excellent quality and instructions
I put off hanging it for a couple of weeks because I thought it would be too hard on my own. However, finding the rafter was the hardest part! I followed the excellent instructions, it works perfectly and I am exceptionally pleased with the quality! And I did it all by myself, no problem at all.
Good Bicycle Hoist but Could Easily be Improved
Overall a good product. The reason for four instead of five stars are because: 1) the supplied 7 screws are very poor quality. I broke the heads off of two of them with a hand screw driver! Get higher quality screws of your own to install the unit. 2) the instructions were good except for how to run the supplied rope through the rope stop which prevents the bike from falling. I found a homeowner video which explained how to thread the rope so that the rope stop works correctly.
Excellent for hanging bikes from ceiling
We installed several of these in garage for bikes. Very easy to install and very sturdy. The rope is a bit stretchy - may need to replace it in ten years or so, but super pleased with this. Would like to get a few more for the ladders.
RN, not a carpenter.
Perfect. Everything provided to attach these to 2 x 4 studs. Up and ready to use in less than a half hour. (And I am not a carpenter).
Happy with choice
We really like how it works for us. We set it up freestanding in our garage. We have two 9 foot kayaks on it. Longer would fit fine. As I believe someone else mentioned, our kayaks needed to go bottom up, unlike the picture. It works great, though.
Makes kayaking more enjoyable!
We are casual kayakers in our 70's. This little cart makes moving a kayak from the trail to the water very easy, no heavy lifting involved. We have only used a few times so don't know how it will hold up but it does look sturdy so do not anticipate any problems.
Excellent No Drill Option
Great option to avoid drilling holes in the wall. Also a quick way to get bikes in and out without having to lift them. Fits my 27.5” and 29” tires.
The kayak rests snuggly on this rack. it's a little bit low to the ground and if you have carbon fiber the rubber may smudge a bit but it's a great value pick.
