Up to 12 ft ceilings

RAD Sportz ceiling storage: hoists and lifts

Every piece in our range that hangs gear from the ceiling: pulley hoists for kayaks and bikes, a rail lift that screws to the joists, and strap slings on two eyebolts.

Ceiling hoists side by side

The space above a garage door track is the one part of a garage nobody walks through. A RAD Sportz Kayak Hoist puts a boat of up to 125 lb there on two rubber-coated hooks, and the rope brake holds every inch you pull. The Bike Hoist does the same for a bike or a ladder of up to 100 lb.

Your ceiling decides the pick. The pulley hoists come with rope for ceilings up to 12 feet and mount along or across the joists. The Rail-Mount Lift needs no board because its aluminum rail bridges the joists, and it carries 75 lb. Under a low shed roof, the strap slings hang a boat from two eyebolts and nothing else.

These ceiling hoists come from the RAD Sportz catalog.

Questions

RAD Sportz ceiling storage: questions

How high can your ceiling be for a RAD Sportz hoist?

Up to 12 feet for the Kayak Hoist, the Bike Hoist and the Rail-Mount Lift. The rope in the box is cut for that height.

Can you lift a kayak by yourself with a RAD Sportz hoist?

Yes. The brake pinches the rope on every pull, so the boat stays where it is when you let go, and you tie off the spare rope on the wall cleat.

Do RAD Sportz hoists need a mounting board?

The pulley hoists screw into a joist or rafter, or into a 2x4 fixed across the joists. The Rail-Mount Lift needs no board: its rail spans the joists.
